A rattle is a great start. An activty gym, gyminee(?) is great. This provided hours upon hours of entertainment. I cannot recomend this highly enough. We also got a chair that swings by Fisher Price. This was also a huge hit. We have one that goes forward and back and side to side. The forward and back motions seemed to be much preferred by our son. This is another cannot miss item. rrh
